Dupri produced his first act in 1990 with the female hip hop trio Silk Tymes Leather. Jermaine was one of the founding members of the teen duo Kris Kross. He helped Chris Kelly and Chris Smith form the teen duo after meeting with the boys at a local mall in 1991. Their first album went multi-platinum thanks to the hit singles Jump and Warm It Up.
