Mia Ener Alvarez is his lesser-known daughter.

She is the offspring of Canelo and model Valeria Quiroz. Yet, by their own decision, they have kept her away from the spotlight. In some interviews, Saul even doesn’t say he has four children, saying he has three.

Let’s find out more about the celebrity child.

Who Is Her Celebrity Father?

Born Santos Saul Alvarez Barragan in July 1990, he is a Mexican professional boxer. Canelo Alvarez has won multiple world championships in four weight classes from light middleweight to light heavyweight, including unified titles in three of those classes.

Canelo is the only boxer in history to become the undisputed champion at super middleweight, having held the WBA(Super), WBC, and Ring magazine titles since 2020, and the IBF and WBO titles since 2021.

Famous as an excellent counterpuncher, Santos is able to exploit openings in his opponents’ guards while avoiding punches with head and body movements. At the same time, Saul is famous as a formidable body puncher. As of May 2022, he is ranked as the world’s best active boxer, pound for pound, by BoxRec.

Speaking about his early life, Alvarez explained he was born on the outskirts of Guadalajara, Jalisco, but his family is from Los Reyes, Michoacan. When he was five years old, the family moved to their home in Juanacatlan, Jalisco.

Growing up on the family’s farm, he learned horseback riding as a young child. He continues to practice it to this day. He is the youngest of eight children, seven of which are boys. Some of his brothers also became professional boxers, including Ramon Alvarez, Ricardo Alvarez, and former WBA interim world champion, Rigoberto Alvarez.

His nickname Canelo is a Spanish word, the masculine word for cinnamon. It is a common nickname for people with red hair. His mother Ana Maria also has red hair. In Mexico, it is common for people to associate red hair with the Irish soldiers who fought for the country in the Saint Patrick’s Battalion during the Mexican-American War.

In one interview, speaking about his ancestry, Saul said, “There might have been an Irish grandfather somewhere back in my past”. In his childhood, he was bullied and called Jicama con Chile, which translates to jicama with chili flakes, which is a popular snack in Mexico.

Speaking about his career, he began as an amateur boxer at 13 years of age. He began after watching his older brother Rigoberto debut as a professional boxer. As an amateur, in 2004, Saul won the silver medal at the Junior Mexican National Championship in Sinaloa. His amateur record was 44-2 with 12 knockouts.

At the age of 15, after his championship at the Junior Nationals, he turned professional. His trainers at the time, father-and-son team Chepo and Eddy Reynoso, were unable to find suitable junior opponents. So, they made him a pro.

In the first 19 months, he knocked out 11 of his 13 documented opponents, all of whom were significantly older. Fun fact: his older brother says that Saul fought ten more times in that span, winning all ten by knockout. Sadly, these fights in small venues were poorly documented.

In total, as a professional, he has fought 62 fights. His record is 58 wins, 39 of which with a knockout, and 2 losses. He also has 2 draws.

Fun fact: he is one of the rare boxers who have fought in four different types of weight divisions. Canelo began his career at welterweight and eventually moved up to middleweight. During this run, he has fought people like Alfredo Angulo, Amir Khan, James Kirkland, Miguel Angel Cotto, and many more.

He is a Catholic. Over the course of his life, he has been engaged to Marisol Gonzalez, a former Miss Mexico Universe, and Fernanda Gomez. He has three daughters and one son, all with different women.

Today, we will talk about his daughter Mia Ener Alvarez.

Quick Bio

Born Mia Ener Alvarez Quiroga, she is the lesser-known daughter of the Mexican boxing champion. She is the offspring of his relationship with model Valeria Quiroz. Yet, by their own decision, they have kept her away from the media spotlight. There is not much information about the young child.

Canelo Alvarez has four children, Emily Cinnamon, Saul Adiel, Maria Fernanda, and Mia Ener. Yet, when he gives interviews in the press, he only speaks of the first three as his children.

For example, in an interview with Faces, he mentioned his descendants but left Mia aside. Canelo said, “To my children who are not with me who are Adriel and Emily, because obviously I try to be there. Sometimes it is a bit difficult to live together as I do with Maria, because she lives with me, but as a father, I try to give my best”.

The Mexican boxer has been quite successful in his career. Yet fans also recognize him for his eccentricities and luxuries. His love for family life is second to none.

Meet the Alvarez Family

Now let’s talk about all four children of Canelo Alvarez. These are Mia’s siblings.

Saul’s eldest daughter and Mia’s eldest sister is Emily Cinnamon Alvarez. He had her when he was only 17 years old, with his then-girlfriend Karen Beltran. He is very proud of his baby girl and shares her achievements, namely in horse riding on his social media.

Emily and Saul have an excellent relationship, and he is often seen at her events, or she is at his fights.

His other daughter is Maria Fernanda Alvarez. Born in 2017, she is the result of his love and relationship with Fernanda Gomez, who is his current wife. He pampers her the most, as she is just a little girl.

Then, we have to talk about his son, Saul Abdiel Alvarez, the youngest of the family. He came into the world just a few months after the birth of Maria Fernanda. Saul was the product of Canelo’s short relationship with businesswoman Nelda Sepulveda.

In June 2021, he shared a photo of his three children together. He wrote, “My three children, all love”.

Saul is a pampering father and gives his children luxurious gifts.

Her Mother Was Linked To El Chapo

One of the reasons why Mia is not mentioned as a daughter of Saul Canelo is the fact that her mother Valeria Quiroz was once linked to drug lord El Chapo.

In 2017, Valeria appeared alongside Joaquin Guzman Loera, alias El Chapo. The two had a sentimental relationship from the age of 15 to 17.

According to several sources, Quiroz met Chapo Guzman in 2009. And even though their relationship lasted only two years, she tries to hide Mia from the public.

Is She On Social Media?

No, Mia Ener Alvarez is not present on any social media platform. Her parents try to keep her as far away from the media spotlight as possible. Their goal is to protect her, given her mother’s association with the powerful drug lord Joaquin Chapo Guzman.

Her father, on the other hand, has 15 million followers and is quite active on Instagram.

Net Worth

We cannot talk about the net worth of a young girl. We do not know anything about her educational background or professional career. With that in mind, we do know the net worth of her father. As of July 2023, Saul Alvarez has a net worth of $180 million. And that should continue to rise.

In 2018, the famous Mexican boxer signed an 11-fight, $365 million contract with DAZN and Golden Boy Promotions. But they mutually parted ways only two years later.
