Born Eilleen Regina Shania Twain in August 1965, she is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and actress. Over the course of her career, Shania has sold more than 100 million records, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time. At the same time, she is the best-selling female artist in country music history.
Born Eilleen Regina Edwards in Windsor, Ontario, her parents are Sharon Edwards and Clarence Edwards. Shania has two sisters, Jill and Carrie Ann. Her parents divorced when she was only two years old and then her mother moved to Timmins, Ontario. There, her mother got married to Jerry Twain, an Ojibwa from the nearby Mattagami First Nation.
Shania’s mother then welcomed her son Mark, and Jerry legally adopted the girls. They then changed their surname to Twain.
Because of her connection to Jerry Twain, the media has often wrongly reported that she is of Ojibwe descent. But she has publicly acknowledged him as her father for many years.

And at that point, Eja’s growing independence inspired her to seek treatment. Shania said, “I was on a long sabbatical, and my son was getting older. I love being a full-time mom, but I started thinking, What am I going to do when I have an empty nest? I had a problem with my voice; I was avoiding doing something about it”.
Then, she added, “As my son got more independence, I had more time to start focusing on my voice and I put all my energy into that. … I thought that it was just fatigue or burnout. But no — Lyme disease commonly affects the nerves. When I discovered a glimpse of hope, I ran with that”.

Shania welcomed Eja Lange back in 2001. And since then, he has been a special momma’s boy. In a 2002 interview, the Canadian singer said, “My priorities, of course, have changed. He’s my focus of every day. He’s just brought so much more love into my life”.
