Born Kelli Marie Giddish in April 1980, Kelli is an American television, stage, and film actress. She is most famous for portraying Detective Amanda Rollins in the NBC crime-drama TV series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Born in Cumming, Georgia, she is the daughter of Charles Giddish and Nita Giddish. She also has a brother named Eli Giddish. It was her paternal grandfather that inspired her to go into acting. He was the one to take her to the Fox Theatre in Atlanta.
Of course, her maternal grandmother was also very supportive of her interests. During her childhood in Georgia, Kelli attended Forsyth Central High School. In January 2007, she guest starred on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in the episode Outsider. At that point, she portrayed a rape victim by the name of Kara Bawson.
Several years later, she would join the cast for the 13th season. She made her debut as Detective Amanda Rollins in the season 13 premiere, Scorched Earth. In that episode, her character worked alongside Detective Olivia Benson, portrayed by Mariska Hargitay.
Speaking about her entrance into the show, she said, “My character is in complete awe of Olivia. Amanda’s really eager to get in there because she knows her stuff and is really eager to learn. She has come from Atlanta and there was a ceiling there, so she’s come up to New York”.
Kelli would remain 11 years with the television show, appearing for the last time in Episode 9 of Season 24, titled, And a Trauma in a Pear Tree. In that episode, her character, Rollins, married ADA Dominick Carisi Jr. and resigned from the Special Victims Unit to accept an offer to teach at Fordham University.
Kelli got married to Lawrence Faulborn on June 20, 2015. The wedding took place in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. In October of the same year, she gave birth to their first child Ludo.
In November 2018, Giddish gave birth to her second son, Charlie Faulborn. Both of her pregnancies were written into the television series Law and Order.
